Full Job Description

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program.

You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within 4 months of appointment.

Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Basic Requirements: Citizenship. Must be a citizen of the United States Education.

Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited.

A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work.

Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work Licensure.

Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level.

One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.

Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment.

Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.

Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.

In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.

Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement.

Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services. Ability to provide staff training and development.

Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers.

References: VA Handbook 5005/120, Part II, Appendix G39 Physical Requirements: Traveling throughout the medical center and the community is required, as is performing activities involving sitting, walking, and standing, bending and carrying such items as books, papers, and files.

In carrying out responsibilities it may be necessary for the them to travel into the community where he/she conducts interviews with the Veterans, their families, representatives of the community.

They must possess current driver's license and drive a government vehicle in carrying out professional duties when deemed necessary. Major Duties:

VA Careers - Social Work: https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU Duties may include, but are not limited to: The Supervisor is responsible for the professional and administrative management of the Health Care for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) / Grant and Per Diem (GPD) program in the Social Work Service Ensures the staff they supervise are aware of, adhere to all current directives of VHA, and meet current Joint Commission standards, State licensure standards, and VA-OIG expectations Conduct ongoing intensive reviews and appraisals to ensure the accomplishment of objectives and adherence to standards set by governing bodies and applicable directives Perform work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various programs Has administrative responsibility for clinical program development and is accountable for clinical program effectiveness and modification of service patterns Plan, establish, and implement policies and procedures; develops individual or group goals and objectives as well as monitors, operates, evaluates, coordinates and oversees the Social Work staff of the assigned program Perform program coordination duties as appropriate and/or requested by supervisor, Chief, Social Work Service, or designee Oversees the daily operation of the program, develop policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use Provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service Administratively responsible for the clinical programming and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use Provide independent and expert clinical psychosocial and case management services in a specialized area of practice to Veterans who tend to have serious and severe crises, may lack any familial and community support, may be poor self-monitors, may frequently fail to comply with instructions or treatment, or may have major deficits in coping skills and require continuing professional psychological support Provide clinical supervision for licensure or certification Coordinate team reviews of medical records and assures that the documentation of the assigned staff reflects the services provided and meets requirements of JCAHO, VHA, Medical Center, and Social Work Service documentation policies and standards Ensure that clinical care within the assigned program meets the standards prescribe by local codes and is within the deliver care standards and guidelines in accordance with applicable grant and contract proposals, as appropriate.

Intervene to facilitate the program compliance of the program proposal or contract guidelines where appropriate Oversee program operations and evaluations, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement and evaluating efficacy of improvement efforts Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 0730 -1600 Telework: Available on an Ad-Hoc basis.
