Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Defense Industrial Base (DIB) &Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTF) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: leading personnel performing security or law enforcement functions, ensuring adherence to Federal, State security regulations for an organization; conducting routine inspections to assesses security effectiveness; utilizing security monitoring systems and /or access control to authorize entry and participating in providing training to security personnel on threat assessment and or emergency response for security effectiveness This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Major Duties:

  • Serves as a Shift Supervisor who exercises direct supervision of the activities of a guard force shift consisting of subordinate Security Guards.
  • Plans and coordinates the activities of a guard force shift, to ensure the maintenance of physical security standards; enforcement of federal state, and local laws and official orders and regulations.
  • Conducts daily guard mount to ensure proper accountability of all sensitive items, weapons and equipment; also inspecting the personnel appearance and the knowledge of duties of the on duty guard force.
  • Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Develops training plans based on approved training courses and regulatory requirements and supervises necessary training for guard personnel in the use of weapons, protection against espionage, sabotage, and other organized subversive actions.
