Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of dispatchers in a Navy emergency center, handling urgent calls for police, fire, and medical help, and making sure the right resources get sent out quickly.

It also includes monitoring security cameras, tracking response teams, and working with leaders to improve operations.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a Supervisory Regional Dispatch Center Specialist in the Emergency Management Division of COMNAVREGSW SDIEGO.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Provide supervision to dispatchers while responding to emergency 9-1-1 service calls, reporting unusual and non-routine fire, police, medical and hazardous incidents; 2) Ensure dispatchers obtain critical information about the situation, record information, determine the type and priority of responses, dispatch appropriate resources, and relay information to first responders; and 3) Advise and confer with Director, Emergency Services, Fire Chief, Law Enforcement Chief on issues relating to policies, technical communication/computerized equipment, protocols, and after-action assessment of dispatch operations.

  • You will use an automated software program (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel) to prepare daily reports and schedules.
  • You will analyze images displayed on a closed circuit television (CCTV) system to identify threats and suspicious activity.
  • You will monitor the status of emergency services and personnel to determine the availability of fire, medical, and police response units.
  • You will explain information to emergency personnel (e.g., law enforcement, emergency medical services [EMS], fire personnel) to dispatch personnel to the reported incident.
  • You will analyze problems to determine the root cause and recommend sound solutions.
  • You will coordinate with local, state, and federal activities to provide additional resources as requested.
