You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Serving as a senior advisor to executive leadership while managing a comprehensive public affairs program addressing issues that are controversial or of significant public interest; Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with key reporters and representatives of major national and international print and broadcast media, including responding to media inquiries on complex, high-profile issues; Planning, organizing, and overseeing the work of subordinate staff and mentoring professional staff by establishing performance standards and fostering a productive work environment; Formulating and implementing office policies or procedures governing media relations and public affairs functions and providing guidance to managers on developing public affairs activities and disseminating materials for internal and external use.

Major Duties:
As Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist (Deputy Assistant Director, GS-15 you will perform the following duties: Perform the full range of supervisory personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised for accomplishing the work of the programs/units.
Oversee the management of public relations programs involving issues that are controversial or of significant public or Congressional interest.
Design and administering planning and controls for submission of data. Advise senior agency officials on public affairs strategies and supervises assigned staff.
Oversee development of strategic communications strategies and the implementation of products and materials that are developed and/or produced.
Provide expert counsel to stakeholders while maintaining a continuous awareness of the philosophies, mission and areas of concern by assuring close and harmonious partnerships is maintained between the mass media and agency/organization.
