Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team to manage and develop skilled merchant seamen for naval ship operations, advising on placement and training for captains and chief engineers, and ensuring compliance with maritime rules.
It's ideal for experienced maritime professionals with deep knowledge of ship management and leadership skills who enjoy mentoring others and shaping workforce strategies.
The role requires hands-on expertise in sea operations to oversee programs effectively.
You will serve as a Supervisory Program Manager in the Military Sealift Command (MSC), Senior Port Officer Division of MILITARY SEALIFT COMMAND.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-14) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Examples of specialized experience may include the following: Applying expert knowledge of the principles, concepts, and practices of merchant seaman manpower processes, systems, and management for both ashore and afloat operations; representing an organization at senior levels to justify, defend, or negotiate on matters involving significant or controversial issues and seeking agreements with stakeholders; mentoring, coaching, and developing merchant seamen to enhance workforce readiness and career progression; utilizing direct experience with ship operations and underway replenishment to provide credible oversight.
Possession of a United States Coast Guard (USCG) Master of Unlimited Tonnage License is required for this position.
