Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team that designs, builds, tests, and maintains equipment used for launching and recovering aircraft on Navy ships, ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish.

You'll manage budgets, solve problems, and work closely with other military groups to support Navy and Marine Corps operations.

It's a great fit for experienced leaders with a background in engineering or project management who enjoy mentoring teams and handling complex defense projects.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-13/14 level or equivalent in developing, acquiring, and delivering Navy or Marine Corps systems
  • Expertise in life cycle program management, including engineering and logistics support for product design, development, acquisition, and sustainment
  • Ability to analyze large-scale programs for budgeting, cost reduction, and resource forecasting (staffing, facilities, equipment)
  • Supervisory skills to lead, develop, and mentor personnel in aircraft launch and recovery equipment (ALRE) development
  • Experience providing direction and coordination to resolve departmental and command-level problems
  • Knowledge of full system life cycle processes, including financial management, planning, analysis, and project execution
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with program offices, fleet representatives, and other Navy commands

Full Job Description

You will serve as the Department Head for the Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) Department in the SUPPORT EQUIPMENT & ALRE COMMAND of NAVAIRWARCENADLKE.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NM-04/GS-13/14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing some or all of the following duties: Executing the timely development, acquisition and delivery of Navy and Marine Corps systems.

Providing skilled personnel resources to execute life cycle program management, engineering and logistics support for the design, development, acquisition and sustainment of of Navy and Marine Corps products Ensuring the design, development, evaluation, verification, fielding, and in-service engineering and logistics support for of Navy and Marine Corps products.

Analyzing large-scale programs to forecast budgets, reduce costs, and advise senior management on resources needed; such as staffing, facility space and equipment.

Providing overall direction and coordination to manage and resolve Department and Command problems.

  • You will supervise, develop and mentor personnel engaged in the development of ALRE.
  • You will be accountable for the design, development, evaluation, verification, fielding, in-service engineering, and logistics support for ALRE.
  • You will provide skills and processes to develop, plan, analyze, and execute projects across the full system life cycle to include financial management.
  • You will foster a cooperative and collaborative relationship with the Program Office, Fleet representatives, other Departments/Groups/Echelons in NAWCAD, and across SYSCOMS.
