Job Description

Summary

This job is for a Station Commander in the military police at Fort Bliss, Texas, where you'll lead a team of officers, manage daily law enforcement operations like patrols and incident response, and ensure everything runs smoothly to keep the base safe.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience in policing who enjoys supervising teams, training staff, and handling high-pressure situations.

You'll oversee both civilian and military personnel while focusing on community safety and administrative tasks.

Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA Certain Personnel of DoD Workforce for to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as the Station Commander for the Police Services Division, and functions as the Military Police Station Commander for Ft. Bliss TX.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing law enforcement operations by providing direct tactical guidance to subordinate officers during daily patrols; conducting on-the-job training for patrol officers in specific job techniques to ensure compliance with departmental standards; establishing incident command during critical events by employing National Incident Management System (NIMS) protocols to contain incidents; preparing detailed law enforcement reports using web-based programs to ensure accurate documentation of all incidents.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Supervises two Civilian Police Desk Sergeants, four military Desk Sergeants and the operations of the Military Police Desk.
  • Plans work assignments and schedules personnel to assure successful accomplishment of assigned missions and responsibilities.
  • Advises and instructs employees concerning work and administrative related matters. Informs supervisor of anticipated vacancies, increase in workload or other circumstances to obtain replacements, temporary help or additional staff.
  • Protection functions, law enforcement duties, accident investigation, crime prevention, traffic control, evidence gathering, bike patrol, and community policing.
