This job is for a Patrol Captain who leads and oversees all police patrol operations on a major U.S.

Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Patrol Captain within the Police Division of the Directorate of Emergency Services with overall responsibility for the command and control of all law enforcement patrol operations Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience is described as one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: supervising/leading and providing guidance/direction to law enforcement patrol operations Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Serve as a Patrol Captain within the Police Division of the Directorate of Emergency Services with overall responsibility for the command and control of all law enforcement patrol operations performed on on a major military installation.
  • Perform duties as a supervisory police officer performing law enforcement duties in an area of exclusive Federal jurisdiction.
  • Ensure reasonable equity of performance standards and rating techniques developed by subordinate supervisors among subordinate units/teams.
  • Conduct supervisory operational reviews of law enforcement activities to ensure maintenance of training standards and that all required and other approved equipment is properly issued and maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy of and compliance with existing policies and procedures regarding police operations and administration.
  • Respond to various calls for law enforcement services at all levels (felony and misdemeanor), to include crimes in progress, citizen complaints, and emergency situations to include natural and manmade disasters.
  • Arrest/apprehend or directs the arrest/apprehension of violators, with goal of case referral to the appropriate Federal prosecutorial authority.
  • Serve as a deterrent to crime by being present in the area and through observation, inspection, and investigation. As appropriate, appears as a witness at judicial proceedings.
