Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team in the Army's intelligence division to manage special programs and projects, with a focus on coordinating efforts for counternarcotics missions and policies in Key West, Florida.

The role requires supervising staff, providing guidance, and engaging in research and leadership support activities.

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S.

Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located with the Plans & Policy Directorate J5.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing direction, oversight, and coordination of multiple personnel to complete special programs and projects; providing oversight to subordinates including supervision or leadership duties, distribution of workload, determining training needs, and/or providing technical guidance; and participating in engagement and research activities such as: attending formal conferences, meetings, or social engagements; preparing talking points or papers for leadership; and conducting research in support of a counternarcotics mission and policies.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS/GG-13 or above.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Project Management Planning and Evaluation Strategic Executive Support and Engagement Major Duties:

  • Serve as the primary focal point for the Commander’s Action Group (CAG), a cross-functional team of special assistants who function at the strategic level of staff operations.
  • Initiate, prioritize, and integrate tasks and requirements into effective programs and/or activities to meet the Command Group focus and priorities.
  • Coordinate external research and analysis with leadership and higher echelon members in support of a counternarcotics mission, policy issues, and Leadership needs.
  • Conduct, oversee, and coordinate special projects to address strategic issues.
  • Serve as communicator and champion for Command’s direction and guidance to the JIATF South staff personnel.
  • Exercise day-to-day supervision over assigned personnel.
