Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-12 level or equivalent in inventory management, supply chain, or related field
  • Experience directing and managing a technical workforce focused on inventory and automated supply systems
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures for supply and inventory management
  • Ability to analyze material support issues, recommend improvements, and ensure asset availability to resolve work stoppages
  • Proficiency in systems like Mapping Enterprise Business System (MEBS), Distribution Standard System (DSS), Warehouse Management System (WMS), NGA Print on Demand Database (PoD), and Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Mapping System (DDMS)
  • Skills in planning, supervising branch operations for item management, requirements determination, asset positioning, provisioning, and foreign military sales
  • Experience maintaining cross-agency relationships and monitoring sources of supply, including tracking current events for urgent requirements

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.

Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.

Creditable specialized experience includes: Assisting customers in resolving material supportability issues. Recommending improvements for material management operations.

Ensuring assets are available in order to resolve work stoppages. Analyzing and identifying needed improvements to better provide material to the customer.

Working with laws, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to supply and inventory management.

Directing and managing a technical workforce focused on inventory management, supply chain functions, and automated supply systems Mapping Enterprise Business System (MEBS) Distribution Standard System, (DSS), Warehouse Management System (WMS) NGA Print on Demand Database PoD and Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Mapping System (DDMS).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

  • Serves as the Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist Branch Chief, Mapping Customer Operations (MCO) DLA Weapons System Support Richmond Virginia.
  • Responsible for planning, directing and supervising branch operations for the item management, requirements determination, asset positioning, provisioning and foreign military sales.
  • Maintains cross-agency relationships and monitors cross-agency sources of supply to ensure assets are available for issue when required and to alleviate work stoppages.
  • Verifies that considerations are given to fluctuating demand data, storage/maintenance considerations and obsolescence of items resulting from technological advances.
  • Develops and implements/recommends new approaches to solve problems and modifies/improves material management business processes within the Cell’s scope of responsibility.
  • Track current events to monitor related orders, such as Hurricanes, Middle East conflict, EUCOM and SOUTHCOM requirements, humanitarian support, etc.
  • Oversee customer support actions and interfacing with the National Geospatial Agency (NGA) for logistics support.
