Base salary range: $104,604 - $135,987

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves leading a team focused on cybersecurity within the U.S.
Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, including managing incident responses, assessing risks for international travel, and providing training on cyber threats to protect the agency's operations.
A good fit would be an experienced IT professional with strong leadership skills in cybersecurity, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders.
The role is supervisory at a senior level, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, but location may be flexible for current employees.
The primary roles of the position are to serve as a recognized authority, senior cyber security specialist; and build/manage/mature the Cyber Operations branch including oversight of cyber-specific operational duties that will support both the Engineering and Compliance branches as well as the other directorates Location Negotiable if selected your duty location will be your current duty location.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Leading cyber and privacy incident response activities.
Conducting cyber risk assessments related to foreign travel. Providing security awareness training to staff and/or creating training material on various cyber threats.
In addition, all applicants qualifying based on experience must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
