Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a fire department team at a Marine Corps base in Japan, overseeing training programs for firefighters from multiple military branches, managing budgets and safety policies, and responding to emergencies as a key leader.

It's a supervisory role focused on ensuring compliance with safety standards and coordinating daily operations.

A good fit would be someone with firefighting experience, leadership skills, and a background in training and hazard management, who is comfortable with military or government work in an overseas location.

Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the ASSISTANT CHIEF OF STAFF (AC/S) G-3/5 of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BUTLER.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Overseeing and develop lesson plans for recurring proficiency training utilizing methods in accordance with established NFPA standards, ODO Instructions and Marine Corps Orders and Plans with NFPA 1403, Responding to emergency as Incident Safety Officer or Incident Commander.

  • You will provide oversight for the annual Regional Fire Academy for the Marine Corps, Army, Navy, and Air Force Local National Firefighters Master Labor Contract employees
  • You will maintain complete records of budget expenditures and constantly confers with comptroller personnel on funding requirements for the department.
  • You will set policy and guidelines for the Occupational Safety and Health Program, updating annually, formulating plans, and providing coordination and guidance in scheduling ensuring all personnel receive adequate training.
  • You will execute and monitor compliance with established policy for the Regional Fire Department on personnel management, labor relations, scheduling of work, leave and predetermined assignment of apparatus response.
  • You will direct and monitor on-going effort to identify and evaluate new hazards; develop and/or approve procedures for Hazardous Material Response Teams responding to situations where these elements are involved.
