Job Description

Summary

This role involves leading a team to oversee and maintain large financial systems for the Department of Defense, ensuring everything runs securely and complies with rules.

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: Experience ensuring the integrity, security, and functionality of large-scale financial systems; developing and implementing internal controls or analyzing financial data to ensure compliance with policy and regulations; experience briefing senior leadership and negotiating solutions with diverse stakeholders on complex financial matters.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-12 or higher grade in Federal Service.

** The effective date of your SF-50 must reflect that you will meet the 52-week time in grade requirement within 30 days of the announcement closing.

** You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major Duties:

  • Exercises both administrative and technical control of the work accomplished by others. Plans, schedules, assigns, and directs the work of others through the team leader concept or project leaders.
  • The incumbent is highly involved in staff levels based on workload requirements. He/she advises employees of the performance requirements of their positions and provides personnel interim ratings periodically.
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes records and reports to identify regulatory problems or inconsistencies affecting procedures and practices.
  • Reviews a variety of incoming, outgoing, and summary financial reports to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of financial operations and financial reports submitted from a variety of customers.
  • Ensures that procedures to correct and/or track erroneous or uncleared data, reports, or documentation are in place to detect and correct prior to release of final reports.
