Summary

This job involves leading a team of engineers focused on developing and maintaining electronic warfare decoy systems for the Navy, tackling issues in supply chains, production, and ongoing support to ensure these systems work reliably in the field.

Key Requirements

  • Professional engineering degree (e.g., in electrical, mechanical, or related field) meeting OPM standards
  • At least one year of specialized experience at ND-03/GS-09/11 level or equivalent, focusing on electronic warfare or decoy systems
  • Proven ability to identify and lead solutions for supply chain, logistics, and sustainment challenges in defense systems
  • Supervisory experience in engineering teams, including technical leadership and coordination
  • Knowledge of system performance analysis, fleet inventory, and depot operations for countermeasures
  • Experience in engineering support for external customers and troubleshooting/repair of systems
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance (due to DoD hiring freeze and naval context)

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEER in the Platform Protection & Countermeasures Technologies Division (WXR), Surface Offboard Countermeasures Engineering Branch (WXRW), Leed Engineering Section (soon to be restructured as the "Expendables Decoys Section") (WXRWM) of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.

In addition to basic education requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower band, ND-03 (GS-09/11 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer, identifying and leading development of solutions to supply chain problems (e.g.

logistics, in-service-engineering, fleet support) found during design, fielding, production, or sustainment of electronic warfare or decoy systems for improved sustainment of countermeasure system programs.

  • You will be responsible for providing engineering, logistics, and technical leadership for Leed Engineering Section (soon to be restructured as the "Expendables Decoys Section").
  • You will oversee development of solutions to technical and supply chain challenges discovered during design, initial fielding, production, and sustainment by utilizing system performance measures and other data sources.
  • You will recommend and implement system improvements and sustainment via depot operations.
  • You will lead engineering analysis and fleet inventory for multiple expendable decoy systems.
  • You will provide technical expertise to establish depot planning and certification.
  • You will lead coordination of key data related to the receipt, troubleshooting, repair and refurbishment of countermeasure systems.
  • You will lead external customer engineering support efforts and be responsible for maintaining and running depot operations from an engineering and logistics standpoint.
