Base salary range: $74,441 - $96,770

This job involves leading a team of dietitians to deliver nutrition care in a veterans' hospital and community clinics, including planning programs, supervising staff, and ensuring high-quality patient services.

The role focuses on both clinical expertise and administrative oversight in a supportive healthcare environment.
The Supervisory Dietitian (Clinical Nutrition) is responsible the execution of clinical nutrition programming within the facility, community-based clinics, and the local community.
Provides administrative managements and direction of the Clinical Nutrition section.
Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) - Must be registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) the credentialing branch of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics formerly known as the American Dietetic Association (ADA).
Current VHA Dietitians that qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision may not be promoted to a higher grade if they do not meet the current RDN/RD requirements.
Grade Determinations: GS-12 Supervisory Dietitian (Clinical Nutrition) Experience Requirement: In addition to meeting the basic requirements, to qualify for the GS-12 you must possess at least 1 year of experience as an RDN/RD equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) which demonstrates the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of accrediting requirements in clinical nutrition in order to assess staff compliance and implement performance improvements.
Skill in serving as a nutrition expert to provide technical guidance, direction and staff development.
Skill in Evidence-Based Nutrition Practice Guidelines in order to develop, implement and coordinate best practices.
Skill in establishing goals and objectives in order to coordinate activities, evaluate accomplishments and solve problems.
Ability to supervise subordinate staff (i.e., plan, organize, delegate, direct, control and review activities and performance).
Ability to analyze data in order to recommend allocation of resource Preferred Experience: CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) certified.

Major duties for this position includes but is not limited to: The incumbent for this position will have: Represents the Clinical Nutrition Section on projects, committees and/or workgroups within the department/facility.
Fully responsible for planning, directing, and assessing the work and competence of staff.
Develops procedures and guidelines for clinical operations and monitors compliance with regulatory standards and policies and procedures.
Provides Clinical Nutrition Section specific leadership and exercises a full range of Supervisory and personnel management authorities and responsibilities.
Executes training plans for the clinical section and ensures staff remain up to date on advances and changes in medical nutrition therapy.
Collaborates with the food operations staff, bridging the work of the clinical nutrition staff to the food services provided to the Veteran.
Analyses data to recommend allocation of clinical nutrition resources. Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience: (Not Required) CDCES (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist) certified Clinical management experience.
