Job Description

Summary

This job is for a supervisor leading a team of about 20 people in managing daily operations for Navy systems focused on surveillance, tactical sensors, and torpedo defense.

It involves overseeing engineering projects, improving processes, analyzing data, and handling administrative tasks like budgeting and personnel.

A good fit would be an experienced engineer or scientist with leadership skills in defense technology, particularly in sensors and naval systems, who enjoys guiding teams and solving technical challenges.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-13 or equivalent level in leading process improvements, metrics analysis, or policy evaluations

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SUPERVISOR in the EXPD SURV & TACTICAL SYS of NAVWARSYSCEN PACIFIC SAN DIEGO CA.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band NM-04 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Leads process improvement activities; or collect and analyze metrics for use in the management and direction of programs; or analyze and evaluate proposed changes in policy and procedures and communicate impact and contingencies.

  • You will provide leadership, management and supervision to approximately 20 people, and is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Expeditionary Surveillance and Tactical Systems Branch
  • You will have knowledge of torpedo management systems and automated imaging and radar systems.
  • You will have experience in the design, development, acquisition and integration of various integrated sensors used for U.S. Navy and foreign navy torpedo management systems and U.S. Army harbor management sensor systems.
  • You will apply knowledge and experience in scientific principles, and project management in the subject matter or functional area for the resolution of problems, development of approaches and settlement of conflicting assignments.
  • You will provide administrative support for activities such as fiscal operations, procurement, and personnel management.
  • You will advise, administer, supervise, and perform professional, scientific or technical work such as engineering projects, systems, processes, equipment, devices and material or methods.
  • You will advise, administer, supervise, and perform professional, scientific or technical work that is focused on space, time, matter, and energy in the areas of sound, optics, heat, and radiation.
  • You will work in areas of sensors, imaging and visualization, ocean search work and recovery systems, rapid prototyping, manned and unmanned systems, maritime test and evaluation, and concept of operations development.
