Position Overview: As a Supervising Registered Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in leading a team of Registered Veterinary Technicians and ancillary staff within the County of Los Angeles.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
A valid Registered Veterinary Technician Certificate issued by the California State Board of Examiners in Veterinary Medicine andA valid California Class C Driver's License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:* Administrative and technical supervision is defined as a position with the responsibility of the quantity and quality of work performed by lower level non-supervisory staff usually three (3) to ten (10) employees.
Provides direct administrative and technical supervision to include planning, assigning, and reviewing work of staff, evaluating employee performance, approving leaves of absence, counseling, and recommending discipline.
Position does not regularly engage in the same work as subordinates more than 40 percent of the time.
** Leading is defined as a position that acts as team or group leader to at least two (2) or more journey or lower level employees with responsibility for assigning, coordinating, and reviewing the work, ensuring proper work methods are followed, and providing technical assistance and training.
Positions spend no more than 50 percent of time performing similar duties as the positions that they lead.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Applicants must be able to perform the essential functions of this classification, with or without a reasonable accommodation.Out-of-class work experience in the service of the County of Los Angeles will not be accepted for this examination.
