This job involves leading a team of orthopedic technicians in a busy county health system, overseeing their daily work, training them on equipment and procedures, and handling tasks like budgeting and staff evaluations to ensure high-quality patient care in hospitals and clinics.

Current employees in the unclassified service in the County of Los Angeles who meet the following criteria also qualify to participate in this exam:
Unclassified employees who have attained permanent County status on a classified position by successful completion of the initial probationary period, with no break in service since leaving the classified service.
OR
Full-time employees in the unclassified service with at least six months of full-time experience in the unclassified service at the time of filing.

THE TEAM MEMBER WE ARE SEARCHING FOR:Makes decision on all needed orthopedic equipment based on written orders from providers written orders and a description of the patient's injury in the absence of supervisory personnel.
Plans the best method and selects proper orthopedic devices and equipment using orthopedic manual and/or standard practice.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:**Experience at the level of Senior Orthopedic Technician is defined as: work with patients with orthopedic needs, work on difficult cases on a regular basis, serve as technical specialist, and provide guidance to orthopedic technicians, exercise independent judgment, assist in resolving complaints and grievances from staff, providers and the public, and refer serious matter to the supervisor.
Out-of-Class and Withhold information:No withholds are allowed. Required experience and education should be fully met at the time of filing and clearly indicated on your application.
Out-of-class experience is gained when performing significant duties of a higher-level, and when these duties are outside the scope of the employee's normal position or inconsistent with the payroll title.
