Under direction, to supervise and coordinate the operations of an imaging modality or major section in Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH).

This recruitment is for Supervising Diagnostic Imaging Technologist positions throughout the Santa Clara County Health System. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used for potential vacancies located at O'Connor Hospital, Regional Medical Center, St. Louise Regional Hospital, and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. O'Connor Hospital - O'Connor Hospital (OCH) is a 358 licensed bed acute care facility offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and specialty programs to residents of Santa Clara County.
It was founded in 1889 as one of the first hospitals in the county. OCH has grown significantly over the past five years in both its inpatient volume and its Emergency Department visits.
Along with these volume increases other ancillary and clinical departments like imaging, lab, pharmacy, and respiratory have seen growth as well.
St. Louise Regional Hospital - Since 1989, St.
Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH) has been caring for the residents in Santa Clara and San Benito Counties, offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical specialties.
SLRH has 93 beds, is a Designated Primary Stroke Center, and is the only acute care hospital in the area. Located in Gilroy, SLRH maintains a CALSTAR 2 emergency helicopter base on the premises.

Requirements
The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Each individual in the classification does not necessarily perform all duties listed.
- Supervises, coordinates and expedites the workflow of an imaging modality or major section in Santa Clara Valley Health (SCVH);
- Assigns and supervises the daily operations and coordination of one or more SCVH imaging modalities, assigning examination rooms, evaluate worklists, deploy resources where needed;
- Assists subordinate staff with difficult technique or positioning problems;
- Assigns examination rooms, reviews imaging for quality and suggests ways to improve the quality;
- Interviews, selects, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates program staff;
- Coordinates the clinical, operational and technical quality control testing and maintenance of diagnostic imaging equipment and programs and related record keeping for the imaging modality;
- Evaluates equipment problems and coordinates preventive maintenance and repair;
- Reports and makes recommendations regarding key performance indicators, staffing patterns and new equipment;
- Generates reports from Electronic Medical Record (EMR) to provide standard and requested reports for quality, volumes, productivity, trends and patient access;
- Meets with medical staff in the division and throughout the hospital to resolve problems related to diagnostic imaging patient service, quality and access;
- Orders supplies and coordinates the inventories of the division;
- Provides technical guidelines for education and school affiliation programs for technologists;
- May perform imaging procedures across various modalities, including but not limited to Radiograph, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine Technology, Computed Tomography (CT), or Ultrasound;
Qualifications
Sufficient education, training, and experience to demonstrate the ability to perform the above tasks, plus the possession and direct application of the following knowledge and abilities:

and
Two years of full-time experience in a medical imaging discipline, such as Radiology (including Computed Tomography (CT), Interventional Radiology, and/or Mammography), Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, or related field, plus one year of lead, supervisory, managerial, or director experience in an imaging discipline.
Special Requirements
- Possess and maintain, in good standing and without restrictions, throughout the duration of employment in this classification at least one of the following certifications relevant to the respective modality:
- Radiologic Technology: Licensure by the State of California to practice as a Radiologic Technologist and certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Sonography: Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in a minimum of two RDMS specialties used at SCVH.
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI): Licensure by the State of California to practice as a Radiologic Technologist and certification by either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
- Nuclear Medicine: Licensure by the State of California to practice as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and certification by either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
- Cardiac Sonography: Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or an Echocardiography Certification issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Ability to travel to alternate locations in the course of work. If driving, possession of a valid California driver’s license prior to appointment and the ability to qualify for and maintain a County driver authorization.
*As a condition of employment, pursuant to California Government Code Sections 3100-3109 and Local Ordinance, all County of Santa Clara employees are designated Disaster Service Workers (DSWs), including extra help.
A DSW is required to complete all assigned DSW-related training, and in the event of an emergency, return to work as ordered.
Knowledge of:
- Principles of supervision and training, and operations
- Techniques of a medical imaging modality including one of the following specialties: Diagnostic Radiology, Computerized Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Medicine Technology, or Ultrasound Technology;
- General medical imaging techniques, methods, and equipment;
- Specialized medical imaging principles, techniques, methods and equipment relative to one or more of the following areas: general radiography (including Computerized Tomography, Interventional Radiology and/or Mammography), ultrasound, digital angiography, magnetic resonance technology or nuclear medicine
- Structural and organic anatomy;
- The methods of positioning patients for radiographic and specialized medical imaging procedures;
- Principles of image processing and development;
- Principles of radiation physics, ultrasound physics, or magnetic resonance physics;
- English usage, style, grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
- Common computer systems and applications.
Ability to:
- Perform complex radiographic and other medical imaging procedures;
- Analyze and resolve work-related problems and conflicts under the stress of time constraints in a hectic environment;
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures;
- Plan and organize the work of a moderately large staff;
- Teach, instruct and critique the work of medical imaging students and technologists;
- Read and understand material safety data sheets and other safety communications;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, at all levels, including colleagues, the public, and representatives of other agencies.
