This summer lifeguard position involves watching over swimmers at outdoor pools in Loudoun County, Virginia, to keep everyone safe by enforcing rules, performing rescues if needed, and providing first aid during emergencies.

Key Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years old for Lifeguard I (Grade 103)
- High School Diploma or equivalent required for Lifeguard II (Grade 104)
- Hold or obtain Red Cross Lifeguard Certification within 30 days of hire
- Obtain First Aid and CPR Certifications
- Undergo a criminal background check
- Positive attitude, good communication skills, and self-motivation
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Requirements
We are seeking summer-certified lifeguards across the county for our outdoor pools. As a certified lifeguard, you will use your skills to do important, meaningful work critical to the safety and wellness of our diverse communities. PRCS serves a diverse population, including, but not limited to, youth, adults, individuals with disabilities, and seniors. A successful candidate will possess a positive attitude, good communication skills, and self-motivation.
We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
• Franklin Park Outdoor Pool, Purcellville, VA (Summer Only)
• Lovettsville Community Center Outdoor Pool, Lovettsville, VA (Summer Only)
As a certified lifeguard, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Monitors the use of aquatic facilities and equipment to ensure visitor and participant safety within the facility and compliance with applicable safety policies and practices.
• Rescues distressed persons, using rescue techniques and equipment.
• Contacts emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury.
• Provides emergency care and treatment as required.
• Enforces pool rules.
• Provides courteous and timely customer service to County staff, facility visitors, and users.
• Refers customers to appropriate staff.
• It is possible that other essential duties related to the specific role and department may be performed.

*This position is eligible for a $1,000.00 hiring bonus following the County’s Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.

Qualifications
Lifeguard II (Grade 104): Must have a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and hold the Red Cross Lifeguard Certification at the time of hire or obtain it within 30 days of hire.
