Full Job Description

The Intern program requires participants complete 480 work hours in the Intern Program on or before the degree award reflected on the final transcript.

The anticipated start date of this position will be May 18, 2026.

Applicants graduating within four months of the anticipated starting date must provide documentation to support continuing their education beyond their current graduation date.

To qualify you must meet the eligibility and education requirements. Your qualifications are evaluated based upon your total amount of COMPLETED education.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Students must be a citizen of the United States or lawfully admitted to the United States as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed.

Current students enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited educational institution (including public high schools, homeschools allowed to operate in a State, 2- and 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges, technical, vocational, and trade schools) pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.

Students must be taking at least half-time course load, as defined by your school and remain in good academic standing in accordance with the Pathways Participant Agreement.

1199: Only students who have completed or are currently enrolled in the following degree programs: business, accounting, human resources, management, or other closely related business degree OR a degree program that provides at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organization and management are preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: GS-3 Level Qualifications: Successful completion of one academic year of post-high school education.

(One academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university.) GS-4 Level Qualifications: Successful completion of two academic years of post-high school study or associate's degree.

  • As a Student Trainee, you will actively participate in on-the-job training and progressively challenging assignments that relate to your academic program, career goals, and the needs of the agency.

  • Applies knowledge of standardized procurement and simple contract procedures and operations, supports procurement technicians and contract specialists in one or more procurement functions (involving pre-award and post-award requirements).
  • Performs solicitation, evaluation, contract award, and contract administration functions in order to obtain supplies for the military.
  • Monitors the status of purchase requests and simple contracts by obtaining information from vendors and internal personnel (e.g., supply, quality).
  • Exercises communication (oral and written), critical thinking, time-management, and teaming skills.
