Job Description

Summary

This job is for a student assistant in Michigan's education department, where you'll help review child care provider applications for accuracy, contact providers for missing details, enter data into systems, and answer customer questions about billing, enrollment, and program basics.

It's a part-time role supporting families and child care services. A good fit would be a reliable student who is organized, good at communicating, and interested in education or child development work.

  • Current enrollment in an educational institution with at least six credit hours per term
  • Proof of enrollment or acceptance to an educational institution, attached to application
  • Ability to work no more than 129 hours per calendar month
  • Position ends upon graduation or if enrollment drops below requirements

This position will work in the Child Development and Care (CDC), Program Administrative Support (PAS) unit. Duties will include assisting the PAS Management reviewing CDC provider applications received for accuracy, contacting providers for missing information, assigning and entering applications into database, and creating scanned provider files. The student position will also assist customers with questions related to billing and payments, provider enrollment, and general CDC program questions.

The student must provide evidence of enrollment or acceptance to an educational institution. Specific information on the education and experience required is in the job specification for the Student Assistant class.

Additional Information

Student Assistant positions cannot exceed 129 working hours in a calendar month and must be enrolled in at least six credit hours per term, providing proof of enrollment at the start of each term. Student Assistant appointments end the month in which the student graduates or is no longer enrolled in school. A Student Assistant position cannot exceed six years unless otherwise approved by Human Resources.
