Store Support Assistant is located within a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) commissary.
This is a dual-purpose position; performing administrative duties approximately 60% of the time, and performs the duties of a Store Associate approximately 40% of the time.
The incumbent works independently or as part of a team and may be rotated throughout the store, performing duties in assigned departments as needed.

Experience: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position.
To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Performed payroll, DTS, correspondence, filing, and personnel support tasks.
Maintained supply and property records and processed procurement and disposition actions. Conduct inventories, corrected supply data errors, and placed online supply orders.
Supported store operations through cashiering, stocking, merchandising, and customer service. Safety, sanitation, and security procedures while operating office and store equipment.
OR Education: Four (4) years of education above high school can also be used to qualify in lieu of specialized experience.
Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. OR Combination of experience and education.
To calculate the combination, divide your total months of experience by 12, then divide your semester hours by 60 and add the two percentages.
If the total is 100%, you meet the minimum qualifications through a combination of experience and education.
You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Additional Requirements that must be met by the closing date: Physical requirements: (1) Stand, stoop, kneel, bend and climb for prolonged periods.
(2) Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, and handling of commissary products weighing up to forty (40) pounds without assistance; heavier products are moved with assistance from other workers or by using material-handling equipment.
(3) Operates a variety of office equipment as well as store floor equipment. You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire.

DoD criteria not met. Work environment: Performance of work in some areas of the commissary requires exposure to hot or cold weather or damp and drafty conditions.
The incumbent may be exposed to differences in temperatures in storing or obtaining items in refrigerated rooms or in the warehouse; or due to the opening and closing of doors.
There is a danger of minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, bruises, heat sealer burns, and slipping on wet floors.
The incumbent may also be exposed to the elements when outside the building when completing customer transactions or retrieving carts.

Administrative support: prepare correspondence, maintain files, answer phones, handle payroll and DTS tasks. Personnel processing: assist with RPAs, in-process new hires, coordinate with HR.
