Requirements

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) is hiring a Senior Lead Cloud Integration & Applications Developer to join our System Office’s Applications Development team within our IT division.

We are looking for an experienced applications developer who is excited by the prospect of improving processes in their work and their team’s.

Note: All interviews for this position will be hosted in person at our office in Denver, Colorado. Travel reimbursement to the interviews is not available. All work for this role must be completed in the state of Colorado; relocation expenses are not available for this position.

As the Sr.

Lead Developer, you will oversee the work of designing, building, testing, deploying, maintaining, and supporting of cloud-based and on-premises applications and services, including CCCS Portals (Ellucian Experience), Single Sign On (Ellucian Ethos Identity Service, WSO2, Microsoft Entra), Ellucian Integration, Android and iOS Mobile Application management, and other applications as needed.

You will lead the setting of standards, policies, and procedures, and mentor team members on development, deployment, support, and maintenance techniques and standards. The Sr.

Lead Developer facilitates and tracks the definition of a project’s scope, goals, and deliverables and defines project tasks and resource requirements.

This position supervises one employee and requires some on-call and weekend hours. (See “Work Location/Travel Expectations” section below for more details.)

Duties include:

  • Build and maintain user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Ensure responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Implement UI/UX designs provided by the design team.
  • Develop and maintain server-side applications using Node.js, Python, or similar languages.
  • Create and maintain RESTful APIs or GraphQL endpoints.
  • Design data models, write optimized SQL queries for retrieval and manipulation, and perform query optimization.
  • Integrate with CCCS custom APIs and partner APIs.
  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based application architecture and infrastructure for maximum efficiency, security, reliability, and scalability.
  • Support development of college portals in collaboration with campus stakeholders and project team members.
  • Manage creation of portal channels to enhance value for various user roles.
  • Implement integration of existing campus applications into the portal.
  • Provide single sign-on (SSO) to external applications.
  • Perform portal and application server administration tasks, including upgrades and deployment of Java and React applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer technology field from an accredited college or university. A combination of relevant education and/or experience in the appropriate technical and management areas may substitute for the degree.
  • Three years of experience working with API calls, React, JSON, NodeJS, and Oracle SQL, and Git.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a team, managing projects, and making strategic planning decisions around services, applications, and infrastructure.

Additional Information

Attributes that will contribute to success in this position:

  • Ability and willingness to work on weekends and be on call to resolve problems as they arise.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices such as continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), infrastructure as code (IAC), and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Extensive understanding of Single Sign On protocols and setup.
  • Understanding of LDAP, Microsoft’s Active Directory, Azure Active Directory.
  • Experience with portal technologies like Ellucian Experience
  • Extensive understanding of Web Technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS Preprocessing, React, JSON).
  • Understanding of WCAG 2.1 Accessibility compliance.
  • Experience with NodeJS, Node Package Management (NPM).
  • Understanding of Linux and RedHat Linux, and Ansible scripting.
  • Ability to identify user needs and provide technical solutions.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills in order to lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior developers, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work directly with customers and vendors to understand and resolve functional or technical issues or concerns.
  • Ability to work effectively on concurrent, multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to work independently to coordinate, organize and track tasks effectively and meet project deadlines.
  • A solid understanding of databases, including SQL and NoSQL, and experience with cloud-based database services like Amazon RDS, or Microsoft Azure SQL.

Work Location/Travel Expectations:

  • This position is located at CCCS-IT: 1059 Alton Way, Denver, CO 80230.
  • Occasional in person events, meetings, or work may be required.
  • Daily schedules may fluctuate to accommodate organizational needs, deadlines and delivery of services.
  • Occasional in-state travel, along with an annual out-of-state conference attendance, may be required.
  • Ability to work on Sundays during maintenance window between 4am to 11am at least 6 times per year.
  • Alternative work arrangements, including flexible schedules and remote work may be available. All work must be completed in the state of Colorado.
