This job involves working as a social worker in the Air National Guard to support the mental health of service members and their families through counseling, assessments, training, and community programs.
You'll help develop strategies to improve psychological well-being and readiness, including crisis interventions and awareness campaigns.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SOCIAL WORKER-TITLE 5, Position Description Number PDT59128P1 and is part of the KY 123 AW, National Guard.
***NOTE: Indefinite employment is temporary and is expected to last more than one year but no more than five consecutive years.
This appointment will not exceed 31 Jan 2027 and will not be extended without further competition.*** MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Possess a current, unrestricted State license to practice clinical social work independently.
Must have 24 months of experience in clinical social work assignments.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-11) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the experience and knowledge of social work theories, principles, techniques, and resources.
Experience in professional social work that includes interviewing people to establish the nature and extent of their problems, helping them work-out plans for improving the situation, providing assistance and services, referring them to community resources and other organizations as indicated, and assisting them to understand and modify their own patterns of behavior when appropriate.

As a SOCIAL WORKER-TITLE 5, GS-0185-12, you will support the psychological health team in developing and executing an annual BH program strategy.
Provide strategic planning and leadership to implement an ANG comprehensive psychological health strategic plan.
Assist leadership in understanding the interface between psychological health and operational readiness, and the role of the DPH in developing and helping leadership apply psychological health solutions to functional/operational problems.
Conduct annual training for unit leadership on psychological health issues and the ANGPHP.
Conduct assessments, routine and crisis evaluations, psycho-diagnostic assessments, provide short-term, evidence-based problem resolution strategies and services.
Provide on-site and telephonic access to psychological health assessments and individual consultation to facilitate coordination of clinical, counseling, and other services promoting the psychological health of NG members and their families.
Establish a resolution plan, annotates adjustments to resolution plan as required over the brief course of counseling prior to any necessary referral.
Implement community organization strategies in collaboration with the Integrated Delivery System (IDS) Team and other key organizations to increase awareness of psychological health, develop coordinated plans for reducing risk factors for individuals and within the community, and build and enhance a general culture that promotes psychological health and wellness.
Design and manage special programs, services, and information and awareness presentations, such as newspaper articles, Newcomers Orientation Briefings, brochures describing ways to enhance psychological health, and national and local awareness theme events (e.g., Suicide Prevention month and National Depression Screening Day).
Responsible for marketing and marketing evaluation activities. Serves as primary consultant and advisor on methods to successfully market the ANG PHP.
Collaborate with the Wing to develop and implement techniques to determine customer satisfaction.
Collect metrics/data on outreach and community initiatives, marketing, and evaluation findings and reports quarterly activities to the ANGRC/SGPK.
Brief commanders, senior Wing personnel, and other key personnel and committees (e.g., first Sergeants), on prevention issues in an effort to obtain optimum support for and participation in all outreach and prevention activities.
Educate military and non-military communities on psychological health issues and serves as a local professional authority on prevention issues.
Prepares agenda for meetings, compiles statistical data, and prepares a variety of recurring reports. Develop meeting agendas.
Track suicide prevention, maltreatment and other behavioral health program data, prepares reports, and participate in writing narrative interpretations of analyses. Perform other duties as assigned.
