The incumbent functions as the Coordinator for the GEC Respite/Homemaker/Adult Day Care Program within the Social Work Section in Community Care, which is a specialized program at VA Loma Linda Healthcare System.
Basic Requirements Citizenship: Citizen of the United States.
Licensure: Candidate must be licensed or certified by a state at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Education: Master's degree in social work (MSW) from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited.
A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for master's degree in social work.
Grade Determinations: Social Worker (Program Coordinator) GS-12 Experience: In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must have at least one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment.
Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience.
Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Social Worker Program Coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Knowledge Skills, and Abilities: In addition to the experience above, candidates must demonstrate all of the following KSAs: Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program. Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.
Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s). Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice.

Physical Requirements: The incumbent's work is primarily sedentary. Infrequently, assignments may require prolonged standing.
The incumbent may carry light items, such as books, files, or a laptop computer. Tasks may require moderate walking and manual dexterity.

Monitors patients progress, maintains comprehensive case documentation, ensures expert diagnosis and treatment of clinical disorders, and shows competent discretion in decision to adjust treatment.
Explains patient's treatment and progress towards rehabilitation to third parties with jurisdiction, remaining unbiased in the presentation even through the consequences are far-reaching and potentially permanent.
Provides professional services to individuals or families or individuals whose immediate situation creates more stress then they can deal with effectively.
Enters appropriate consults within the Electronic Health Record and follows the Community Care Field Guide Book for consult management. Collaborate with Network Agencies for care coordination.
Work with Community Care Administrative staff for authorization efficiency. Performs other related duties as assigned.
