Summary

This job involves working as a clinical social worker in a military hospital in San Diego, helping patients with serious mental health issues through assessments, therapy, and treatment planning.

About the Position: This position will be located in the Department of Psychiatry under Directorate of Behavioral Health, Naval Medical Center, San Diego CA.

Requirement for Social Worker (Clinical): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

AND Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.

  • Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Collect biopsychosocial information about patients through interview, case history, observation techniques, and other assessment methods.
  • Analyze information collected to identify symptoms and develop treatment plan.
  • Provide comprehensive social work services in the form of casework and case management by consulting on or developing discharge plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for adults and children.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis.
  • Provide emergency on-call crisis management services for behavioral health cases and all other social work needs as designated by the section or department needs.
