About the Position: This position will be located in the Department of Social Work under Directorate of Medical Services, Naval Medical Center, San Diego CA providing medical social work services at Naval Medical Center San Diego to our beneficiaries.

Hours are M-F with core hours being 0700-1530 with flexibility on starting times as long as you work 8.5 hours to include 30 min lunch.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Individual Occupational Requirement for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations for behavioral health patients, providing individual or group therapy, and formulating behavioral health interventions or treatment plans.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Selective Place Factor Requirement: Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S.

State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your license) Major Duties:

  • Work with highly complex cases in which individuals are severely impacted by moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses
  • Collect biopsychosocial information about patients through interview, case history, observation techniques, and other assessment methods.
  • Analyze information collected to identify symptoms and develop treatment plan.
  • Provide comprehensive social work services in the form of casework and case management by consulting on or developing discharge plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group clinical counseling services using various evidenced based modalities as clinically indicated for adults and children.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on psychiatric diagnosis.
  • Provide emergency on-call crisis management services for behavioral health cases and all other social work needs as designated by the section or department needs.
