This part-time social worker role at a state psychiatric hospital in Iowa involves helping incarcerated patients with mental health evaluations, creating treatment plans, and managing their care to restore competency.
It requires working in a hospital setting with a fixed schedule from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., focusing on assessments and coordinating services for those with severe mental illnesses.
Ideal candidates are experienced social workers passionate about mental health support in forensic settings, with strong organizational skills to meet tight deadlines.
The Social Worker 3 works with a forensic population which includes incarcerated patients admitted for evaluation and treatment for competency.
This position is required to complete progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge planning within stringent timelines.
The successful candidate will have skills in assessment of patients and extensive case management skills.
It will be imperative to have a background in severe mental illness and treatment approaches utilized.
Knowledge of community service agencies, habilitation services, managed care, disability access points, and the mental health system in Iowa is preferred.
Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position.
CMHI provides active inpatient treatment to adults in need of acute psychiatric care. The facility offers several services including individualized treatment plans.
Support for patients with special education needs to continue their education is provided, and individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan.
Medication, group counseling, and activities therapies might be included as well.
