Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a clinical social worker at a military base, where you'll assess and treat mental health issues for service members, lead group sessions, and team up with doctors and leaders to support overall well-being and readiness.

You'll also train staff and partner with outside groups to improve mental health services.

About the Position: The position is located at Fairchild Air Force Base, WA.

Basic Requirement for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Licensure: Current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting behavioral health assessments; providing individual and group treatment; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Serve as the installation clinical social work subject matter expert (SME) by providing consultation to the installation leadership and military treatment facility.
  • Determine appropriate treatment modalities and interventions for mental health well-being and mission readiness.
  • Conduct clinical intake interviews with patients
  • Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team in formulating and implementing treatment plans.
  • Conducts psychoeducational training on topics related to clinical social work, mental health and other emotional and behavioral conditions within the clinic and operational units.
  • Provides training to mental health staff to include mental health technician, interns and residents in regard to conducting intake evaluations.
  • Collaborates on special programs with local, state, and Federal partners to evaluate, enhance and improve service delivery.
