Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serve as a Social Services Assistant in a clinical setting on a highly specialized multidisciplinary treatment team dealing with mental health issues.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: scheduling meetings and/or appointments for patients with appropriate care providers; providing follow-ups with patients receiving mental and/or behavioral health care identified in provider caseloads; and maintaining proper documentation for patient information.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Major Duties:

  • Provide follow up with identified high risk population, supporting behavioral health providers with commanders providing the best level of treatment available.
  • Responsible for ensuring facilitation, negotiation, and quality care necessary for the achievement of mutually developed treatment goals.
  • Independently contact and maintain open communication with Soldiers identified as high risk by clinical mental health providers.
  • Schedule meetings with other appropriate team members as deemed necessary by mental health and/or appropriate providers.
  • Perform direct patient support to include assisting clinical providers to access appropriate patient referrals and resources.
