Job Description

Summary

This job involves inspecting, maintaining, and doing minor repairs on rental outdoor equipment like boats, ATVs, snowmobiles, and trailers at a military base recreation center to keep everything ready for soldiers and their families.

This position is located at Outdoor Recreation but may fill other vacancies in the Business Recreation Division.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: general knowledge of operational and repair characteristics requirements for small gasoline engine powered equipment, AND ability to use a variety of hand tools and equipment required in small engine repair work., AND ability to read manufacturer's manuals and to determine repair parts requirements., AND ability to complete such entries as issue and turn-in dates, item names, and stock or part numbers on issue, and turn-in forms.

Major Duties:

  • Independently inspects, maintains, and performs minor repairs on a diverse rental inventory including outboard motors, boats, travel trailers, ATVs, and snowmobiles to ensure operational readiness.
  • Conducts routine visual inspections on returned rental equipment, identifying and replacing worn, dirty, or damaged parts and components to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinates with supervisors for major equipment repairs and the timely procurement of replacement parts, ensuring the longevity and safety of the inventory.
  • Instructs patrons on the correct and safe operation of rental equipment upon issue and performs preventative maintenance to keep all items clean, staged, and prepared for rental.
