Full Job Description

You will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC in the Production Resources Department, Shop 17, of PSNS and IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

  • You will manufacture, modify, repair, assemble, identify, remove, install, verify, inspect, write reports, groom, test, and document sheet metal articles, equipment and systems made with ferrous and nonferrous materials.
  • You will remove material by drawing sketches and using them with plans, tags, Material Delivery Records, and notches or marks to identify and control items and their positions and attitudes of installation.
  • You will apply knowledge of descriptive geometry and information from sketches, plans, engineering instructions, process instructions, and orders to manufacture, modify, assemble, and repair furniture, ventilation systems, and other metal articles.
  • You will test and orifice sheet metal systems according to design specifications, and document and verify the results of the test.
