This National Guard position is for a SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION RESPONSE VICTIM ADVOCATE (SAPR VA) (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T5922000 and is part of the J9 located at Camp Williams, UT, with the UTNG.
The selecting supervisor for this vacancy is Mr. Andrew J. Kalinen. Priority will be given to all current, onboard employees of the UTNG.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.
OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.
OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Have least 1 year specialized experience as a GS-0101-09? Must submit SF 50.
OR have at least 36 months experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge of DoD or other government agency's programs in regard to sexual assault, domestic abuse, victim advocacy reporting options, directives, regulations, and/or implementing guidance.
Knowledge of a wide range of generally accepted practices and procedures associated with victim advocacy, social services delivery systems, principles, and behavioral theories relating to victim advocacy, sexual assault, domestic abuse, and other acts of interpersonal violence Knowledge of laws, regulations, executive orders, issues, etc., relating to victim advocacy, sexual assault, domestic abuse, and interpersonal violence Skill in effective development and delivery of sexual assault prevention and response training to a variety of individuals and organizations Ability to employ various methods and techniques typical of a sexual assault and domestic abuse victim advocate program, including crisis intervention, situational assessment, and analyzing the needs of the victim to support/assist them in the resolution of complex problems Ability to function as liaison to JFHQ-State and community organizations representatives to establish, maintain, and provide effective victim support in a wide variety of situations Ability to provide information and one-on-one assistance to individuals under difficult circumstances using sensitivity, tact, and caring using a wide range of social science principles, practices, and techniques to effectively deal with crisis intervention, the dynamics of sexual assault and domestic abuse, and their effects, and to relate to and build trust with individuals that have faced traumatic and life changing events Ability to coordinate and educate Victim Advocate volunteers Ability to serve as the full time SAPR professional for the JFHQ-State in the absence of the State SAPR Major Duties:
Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list As a SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION RESPONSE VICTIM ADVOCATE (SAPR VA) (TITLE 5), GS-0101-11, you will: Assists victims of sexual assault and domestic violence towards the process of recovery, through advocacy and resource information.
For SAPR sexual cases, the victim advocate will operate under the supervision of the State SAPR performing duties which include, but are not limited to, crisis intervention, safety planning, referral, ongoing non-clinical support, and serves as a resource on available options to assist victims in making informed decisions regarding reporting options and care.
For Domestic Violence cases, the Victim Advocate will operate under the guidance and direction of the Director of Psychological Health (DPH)/Behavioral Health Officer (BHO) developing an appropriate plan of assistance and intervention which provides for the safety of the victim and their family members.
Conducts risk assessments of individuals to determine immediate needs and evaluates safety and levels of risks; provides emotional support and guidance to victims in crisis while addressing the individual's needs and desires.
Provides crisis intervention in the immediate aftermath of sexual assault or domestic violence/abuse and develops safety plans based on initial and ongoing risk assessments.
Provide restricted and unrestricted reporting options addressing confidential disclosure and privacy to the victim.
Provides referral services at the Wing/BDE State as well as the surrounding communities. Completes required reports/documents on incidents of sexual assault and domestic violence.
Assists the State SAPR with entering all Wing/BDE State sexual assault incidents into the Department of Defense Sexual Assault Incident Database (DSAID) IAW DOD and NGB policies and procedures.
Assists with DSAID entry for: SAPR Related Inquiries (SRI), Wing/BDE State Training activities, retaliation reports, and CMG minutes.
Has primary administrative oversight for entering and tracking all information for volunteer or collateral duty Victim Advocate DSAACP Credentialing and continuing education training via DSAID.
Assists the State SAPR in the supervision of volunteer Victim Advocates.
Under guidance and direction of DPH/Behavioral Health Officer the incumbent provides direct services to identified families experiencing domestic abuse utilizing an early intervention model designed to stop the abuse, promote healthy family interactions, and reduce incidences of initial and recurrent family maltreatment among military families of more complex cases.
C Serves on the Wing/BDE State sexual assault prevention and response (SAPR) Case Management team and ensures State SAPR is kept abreast of victim's status/case.
For SAPR cases, consults regularly with the State SAPR on ongoing cases.
Facilitates or assists in the planning, scheduling, and delivery of sexual assault prevention and response and interpersonal violence prevention training for all Wing/BDE State personnel, leadership, deploying personnel, volunteer or collateral duty Victim Advocates, and other key functional stakeholders to include annual refresher SAPR training.
Coordinates guest speakers, arranges announcements and marketing, and coordinates logistics for the various training activities.
Promotes awareness of sexual assault and interpersonal violence prevention in the community by performing outreach activities in the preparation for and implementation of the Sexual Assault Awareness Prevention Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month campaigns.
Serves as liaison with community agencies and resource providers to implement programs and services regarding advocacy for victims, child behavior management/developmental strategies, communication and family cohesiveness and sexual assault.
Reviews current Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) or Memorandums of Agreement (MOA) to ensure they effectively meet the sexual assault or domestic abuse victim's and program's needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
