This job is for a Sergeant at a maximum-security prison in South Carolina, where you'll supervise officers and inmates to maintain safety, discipline, and rehabilitation programs.
You'll guide your team, handle complaints, monitor movements, and ensure everyone follows rules under a lieutenant's direction.

Under direct supervision of the Shift Lieutenant, provides direction and instruction to inmates and officers in a program of discipline, safety, security and rehabilitation of inmates in a maximum security facility.
Assists Lieutenant in evaluating officer performance; provides direct supervision to subordinate officers.
Reviews incident reports written by officers.
Instructs and counsels officers concerning duty requirements.
Investigates inmate complaints and takes appropriate action; instructs and counsels inmates as required.
Monitors inmate movement within the institution.
Performs essential and marginal duties of an Officer II.
Performs all other related duties as assigned by the shift supervisor.
State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and eighteen (18) months experience in correctional, security, military, or police work.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for 1/2 of required experience.
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
