This job involves leading teams of workers and apprentices in maintaining and repairing the city's water pipe systems, including operating heavy equipment and ensuring safe installations.
It requires hands-on experience in construction and utilities work, with a focus on planning jobs and using tools to fix water infrastructure across Seattle.
A good fit would be someone with several years in water system maintenance who enjoys outdoor, team-based work and has strong leadership skills.

Seattle Public Utilities has multiple opportunities for experienced Senior Water Pipe Workers.
These positions provide leadership to Water Pipe Workers and apprentices in the Water Operations and System Maintenance Division. The successful candidates will report to Water Pipe Crew Chiefs.
The Water Operations & System Maintenance Division has four different reporting locations spread throughout Seattle and King County.
You may be assigned to work at any one of these four reporting locations: Lake Youngs (16205 SE Old Petrovitsky Rd, Renton), Tolt (13510 Carnation-Duvall Rd, Duvall), North Operations Center (1318 N 128th St, Seattle), Operations Control Center (2700 Airport Way S, Seattle).

Ensures the safe operations of variety of equipment including service trucks, dump trucks, hydro-lifts, truck mounted cranes, backhoes, dozers, graders and tractor mowers, water tapping machines, pipe cutters, valve machine, welding devices and hand tools.
Inspects service trucks for proper operation and needed maintenance.

Experience:
Experience and Education Equivalency: A combination of education and/or training and/or experience that provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class will be considered.
License, Certification and Other Requirements:
You will be most successful in this role if you possess one or more of the following:
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Must be able to work nights, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as part of a rotational shift.
Willingness to participate in voluntary weekly standby rotation to ensure adequate staff coverage to handle emergency events involving the water distribution system during off- hours.
This work is in person and hybrid work is not an option.

The full salary range for this position is $43.13 - $48.38 per hour.
