Senior Power Field Operations Supervisor

Full Job Description

• Supervises, directs, and evaluates the day-to-day activities of personnel involved in the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and support functions associated with the Tacoma Power electrical transmission and distribution system.
• Coordinate and assign personnel and equipment to maintain, construct, and repair the Tacoma Power‘s transmission and distribution systems.

Respond to and investigate outage events, personnel injuries and safety violations within T&D. Coordinate with others to evaluate incident and determine course of action.

Participate as Subject Matter Expert in investigations by assigning investigators, performing Root Cause Analysis, developing Management Recommendations and presenting finding to T&D Staff.

Develop agendas and facilitate regular meetings with work groups in T&D and other closely related departments to discuss work load, Clearances and outage schedules, safety, training, department policies/procedures, equipment, Construction Standards/ Work Practices, and other departmental information.

Assure, direct, oversee and assist in the development, implementation and compliances of Federal, State, City, County and departmental policies, regulations, administrative procedures and agreements.

Be mindful of work conditions and processes performed by the work groups in T&D and enforce the policies, regulations, procedures and agreements within those situations to assure the safety of the work crews and general public.

Know and enforce union contracts under which represented employees in the groups interacted with follow. Operate construction, maintenance and restoration activities according to those agreements and respond to grievances in a timely manner when activities are called into question.

Coordinate communication and activities between staff, department, outside agencies and organizations, and the general public.

Audit paperwork turned in by T&D employees such as work order packets, time cards, job task safety analysis forms, meal & reimbursements, as-builts, EDPR’s, damage reports, injury/accident reports, etc.

Create and update SAP Work Orders for various tasks from standard maintenance to complex storm restoration and billable damage to system work orders. Create and assign operations to crews in the work order as needed.

Conduct periodic crew visits to monitor safe work practices, proper construction, productivity, proper use of personnel and equipment.

Resolve and investigate internal & external customer requests and complaints.

Coordination of transmission outages and documenting related process.

Continue to develop and mature TPWRs asset management program as it relates to our transmission system and all components.

Develop transmission maintenance plans

Requirements

Minimum Education*
High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of an electrical apprenticeship, or completion of a 2-year trade/technical school specializing in electrical, machining, fabrication or heavy equipment trades; or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics or directly related field

Minimum Experience*
6 years of related industry experience, including: four (4) years as a journey electrician working on high voltage equipment, journey hydroelectric or power generation mechanic or operator working on power generation equipment; or six (6) years as a Hydro Utility Worker; or six (6) years as a NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) certified system operator; experience must also include at least one (1) year of lead/supervisory experience.

*Relevant education and experience may substitute for one another on a year-for-year basis

Licensing, Certifications and Other Requirements

• Incident Command Certification
• First Aid/CPR Certification

Some positions may require additional licenses and / or certifications, including:

• Qualifying journey-level high-voltage electrical certification
• Completion of annual training and passing comprehensive personal risk assessment (background check) prior to employment and every five years thereafter as required by federal regulatory requirements (NERC-CIP) and/or NERC BITO or RC Certification

Annual Salary: $163,030.40 - $229,548.80
