DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinates daily inspection and requested overtime inspection workload to ensure fair and accurate distribution.
Ensures completion of data entries for scheduling and reconciliation of normal and overtime inspection assignments. Prepares and reviews reports, blueprints and records.
Assists the general public, contractors, and professionals with preparing various forms. Provides code interpretation to enhance technical quality of customer inquiries.
Assigns investigations on unpermitted work and provides assistance where necessary. Resolves complaint calls as assigned by the office or other departments.
Investigates vehicle accidents/injuries and files necessary reports in a timely manner. Performs quality assurance inspections or follow-up inspections of subordinate Inspectors.
Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as computers or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis.
This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier II LevelFour (4) years of journey level or skilled experience in the area of inspection to be performed are required.
In the areas for Electrical, Elevator Trades, Plumbing, Structural, and A/C and Boiler, experience must be journey level experience received after completion of apprenticeship program.
