This position is located at US Mint,Office of the Director - Office of Legislative and Intergovt Affairs.
As a Senior Government Affairs Specialist, you will be you will be an expert on legislative and Congressional research, the legislative process, and is responsible for tracking/monitoring legislative initiatives that impact Mint programs, operations, objectives, or policies.
You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.

For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience or General experience for this position includes: Effectively communicating legislative information to a wide range of stakeholders, such as Members of Congress, their staffs and staffs of relevant Committees; AND Liaising with senior officials within the agency, members of Congress and their staff, and constituents from non-governmental organizations, universities, trade associations and the relevant private sectors OR developing and implementing targeted outreach activities to promote the agenda of an agency organization; AND Assisting in planning and developing testimony, briefing materials, talking points or other outreach materials on behalf of an agency or organization OR tracking, analyzing or evaluating new or existing policy, laws, regulations, and programs and communicating that information to senior agency, organizational, or congressional officials.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks. Major Duties:
As a Senior Government Affairs Specialist, you will: Assist in developing, designing, and implementing an ongoing program to provide an effective interchange of information between Congress, Federal, state and local agencies, and Mint employees.
This may include serving as contact for Members of Congress, Congressional Committees, Congressional staff, and other government officials on matters related to the Mint.
Evaluate program progress and provide expert advice on ways to enhance overall effectiveness.
Assess complex issues and provide assessments of impact to the Mint's mission/goals and provide recommendations of action for the Mint (either legislative fixes or policy/program changes).
Assist in drafting and preparing Congressional testimony for Departmental clearance and preparing briefing material used by the Mint and Treasury in Congressional hearings.
