This job involves leading a team that manages and improves automation systems for the city's public utilities, like water and wastewater treatment plants, ensuring everything runs smoothly and securely.

Senior Control Systems Engineer positions administer and supervise the Automation and Process Control group for the Public Utilities Department; operate and maintain the Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Department Information Network (DIN), Facility Information Network (FIN), and the Process Information Network (PIN); review designs and standardization of the control systems within and between facilities; evaluate and oversee the design, development, implementation, and testing of systems related to area of responsibility; develop and implement system enhancements to improve reliability and performance; prepare reports and correspondence; interview, train, evaluate, and rate subordinates; and perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE: Four years of full-time professional industrial engineering project management experience, which MUST include supervisory and managerial duties.
NOTE:
City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours.
OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered.
REGISTRATION: Registration as a Professional Control Systems or Electrical Engineer with the State of California.
LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver's License is required at the time of hire.
