This job involves reviewing and approving permits for connecting homes and buildings to the city's sewer and drainage systems, ensuring everything meets safety and environmental rules.
It also includes mentoring junior staff and answering questions from the public and inspectors.
A good fit would be an experienced civil engineer who enjoys detailed technical work, guiding others, and helping keep Seattle's water and waste systems running smoothly.
Seattle Public Utilities has an opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineering Specialist within the Development Services Office (DSO).
This position serves on the DSO's Side Sewer Review and Permitting Team, which determines the requirements of and processes permits for new drainage and sanitary side sewer connections.
This position reports to the DSO Side Sewer Supervisor.

Experience: Four years’ civil engineering experience.
Education: An Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or two years of college level coursework in engineering and construction technology.
Or: A combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class.
Licenses or Certificates: Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.A combination of the following qualifications would be desired, but are not a requirement:
Workplace Environment/ Physical Demands:
This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Employees will be required to come into the office a minimum of three days per week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their manager.

The full salary range for this position is $62.79 - $70.35 Hourly.
