Requirements

In this position, you will take on the role of the principal project engineer, utilizing CADD software to enhance communication between the Department of Transportation's central office and its engineering districts regarding various design projects and publications.

Your duties will encompass the development of workflows, routines, and software aimed at maintaining and advancing 3D CADD-related engineering tools, all in alignment with the department's design and construction guidelines.

You will leverage advanced engineering principles to evaluate and integrate new technologies that improve engineering automation within the agency.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for establishing standards and specifications for these technologies, offering training and support to engineering personnel, and conducting independent assessments to determine the software's advantages for the agency.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.

    In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

    If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
