The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education is seeking a hardworking and dependable candidate just like you to apply!

Responsibilities of the Senior Auditor:
This position is responsible for coordinating with private audit firm(s) conducting compliance audits of the 55 institutions receiving scholarship and grant lottery funding from the Commission. This coordination includes identifying the institutions audited and quality control of completed audit reports. The position is also responsible for assisting with the payment of scholarship invoices and reconciling scholarship expenditures in SCEIS. The position will report any audit finding(s) to the General Assembly and oversee Tuition and Fee and Proviso 117.21 reporting.

Job functions are carried out with minimum supervision of the Assistant Director of Fiscal Affairs and Operations. The employee must be self-sufficient in performing all assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate compliance audits of the 55 institutions receiving scholarships and grant lottery funding from the Commission with an external audit firm.
  • Schedule and quality check compliance audits completed by private audit firm.
  • Perform compliance audits of selected programs such as the Higher Education Excellence Enhancement Program.
  • Coordinate annual agreed upon procedures audits.
  • Oversee Tuition and Fees and proviso 117.21 reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field and a minimum of two years professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance, or program evaluation.
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, theories and techniques of accounting, auditing, and financial management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to analyze and query large datasets.
  • Must demonstrate strong skills with Microsoft Excel spreadsheet applications and have experience using statistical software applications.
  • Position requires non-essential declaration.
  • Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations.
