Summary

This job involves managing security programs for people who need access to highly sensitive national security information, including conducting interviews, running background checks, and providing training to ensure everyone follows security rules.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST (SSO) in the U.S. PACIFIC FLEET (PACFLT) of COMMANDER ELEC ATTACK WING PAC FLEET.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing security guidance by initiating and implementing policies and procedures to manage sensitive compartmented information (SCI) programs that protect information, materials and processes in order to improve security operations and the commands mission.

Examples of specialized experience include: Applying personnel security principles and regulations to process Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) eligibility requests, including conducting nomination interviews and initiating security investigations.

Assisting in the management of a personnel security program by conducting security briefings, debriefings, and trainings for assigned personnel.

Using federal adjudication systems, such as the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) or its predecessors, to verify clearances, manage access rosters, and document security actions.

Assisting in the continuous evaluation of cleared personnel by managing the periodic reinvestigation program and reviewing reported derogatory information to determine its potential impact on security eligibility.

  • You will manage all facets of the personnel security program for individuals requiring access to Sensitive Compartmented Information.
  • You will conduct in-depth interviews and initiate investigations to determine eligibility for access to sensitive national security information.
  • You will administer security indoctrinations, awareness briefings, and training to ensure personnel understand their security responsibilities.
  • You will continuously evaluate the eligibility of cleared personnel and manage the five-year periodic reinvestigation program for all staff.
  • You will maintain accurate personnel security databases, access rosters, and records in compliance with federal adjudication systems.
  • You will serve as the official channel to process, certify, and validate incoming and outgoing visitor security clearances and accesses.
  • You will provide guidance to management and staff on security policies and assist in processing requests for sensitive access eligibility.
