About the Position: Serves as a Security Specialist performing duties in support of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and its geographic area of responsibility.

This position is located with the Fox Army Health Center SSO Stand-Alone MTF Redstone Arsenal, AL. Office Work: 0730-1600 hrs.

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Conducting security inspections or evaluations, providing recommendations to management on personnel security matters, and assisting with security trainings and briefings.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Cyber Security, Security Management, Intelligence Security and Emergency Management.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Major Duties:

  • Determine the requirements for Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) for vaults and other storage containers.
  • Evaluate the installation physical security plan and makes recommendations where necessary.
  • Maintain the overall security system by performing duties that include, but are not limited to: Access Control, Duress and Intrusion Alarms, Physical Security, Force Protection, and Information Security.
  • Serve as the Agency Antiterrorism/Force Protection Officer by coordinating, advising, collecting, interpreting and providing Force Protection guidance, policies and procedures.
  • Assist organizational Operations Security (OPSEC) Officer with policies, procedures, and guidance IAW applicable Army and DOD regulations.
  • Review and processes requests for personnel security clearances, evaluating the sensitivity classification of the position by applying need-to-know principles and pertinent security guidelines.
  • Serve as Security Key and Lock Control Officer.
