Summary

Full Job Description

As a Security Specialist in the Office of Protective Services, you will serve as a Special Agent, support foreign national access, provide contract oversight, and conduct security incident reviews and procedure development.

You will manage dashboards, review access requests, assist with investigations and protective missions, and oversee events and tours to safeguard NASA assets.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level: Coordinating and monitoring foreign national access programs to ensure compliance with Federal policies and regulations; Conducting security investigations and threat assessments to mitigate risks to facilities; Delivering security education and training through briefings and written communication tools to ensure employee and visitor compliance with security policy.

  • Oversee Glenn Research Center’s Foreign National Access Program to ensure compliance with Agency and Federal policies and regulations, while managing identity proofing, vetting processes, and stakeholder education.
  • Serve as the Alternate Contracting Officer’s Representative (ACOR) for the Protective Services Contract, providing contract oversight and coordinating services among customers, procurement, and the contractor.
  • Assist in reviewing security incident reports and traffic violations and issue notifications as appropriate.
  • Assist with the development of security procedures, standards, training, and methods to protect NASA assets from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss.
  • Assist with implementation and maintaining of a dashboard for the tracking of security trends for mitigation and operational resource management.
  • Coordinate and review agreements and NASA Access Management System (NAMS) requests for compliance and for the protection of NASA assets.
  • Manage and coordinate special events and tours and develop security plans to safeguard NASA assets.
