Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a security guard at a Navy installation in Florida, where you'll check IDs, inspect vehicles and packages, control access to restricted areas, and manage traffic to keep the base secure.

It's a hands-on role focused on following procedures during everyday operations and emergencies.

A good fit would be someone with prior experience in security or law enforcement who is detail-oriented, calm under pressure, and comfortable working shifts in a military environment.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 level in federal or equivalent private/public sector
  • Experience authenticating identification for access to restricted areas
  • Experience regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain flow and security
  • Experience granting or denying personnel access into restricted areas
  • Experience performing private and commercial vehicle inspections and package inspections per procedures
  • Ability to independently perform installation access control using standard operating procedures and regulations
  • Willingness to participate in security response during actual or simulated incidents

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Authenticating identification for access to restricted areas; 2) Regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain traffic flow and security operations; 3) Granting or denying personnel access into restricted areas; and 4) Performing private and commercial vehicle inspections and package inspections following prescribed procedures to ensure only authorized property is brought into or removed from facilities.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a member of the entry control vehicle inspection team which conducts private and commercial vehicle inspections.
  • You will independently performs installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirements as a guide to assess determination for a wide range of unique circumstances.
  • You will direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during periods of emergency or increased traffic.
  • You will serve as a member of the installation’s overall security response capability during actual or simulated incidents.
  • You will be responsible for performing and resolving a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.
  • You will inspect private and commercial vehicles to determine if safe to enter installation.
