This job is for a secretary in a veterans' health clinic in Kerrville, Texas, where you'll handle administrative tasks like organizing paperwork, scheduling meetings, managing supplies, and supporting doctors and nurses in a busy medical environment.

This position provides support for the KTCC/GEC staff to include the Medical Director for GEC KD, treatment team physicians, physician extenders, program directors, social workers, nurses, and clerical support personnel from GEC programs at: Kerrville Transitional Care Center & Geriatrics Evaluation and Management (GEM) Outpatient Clinic.
They perform a full range of routine and non-routine assignments and complete these assignments independently in accordance with accepted practices.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: communicating orally and in writing; searching and extracting information from varied sources when considering the applicability of information and quality of sources to compose correspondence and/or reports; operating computers using programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Fireman; and ordering and maintaining office supplies.
OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school.
(TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level.
You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 4 years above high school.

Applicants may meet these requirements by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency.
Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years.
Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test.

Major Duties:
Major Duties: Organize varied clerical work in a large government/medical setting. Organize workflow between the employees of the service, the Administrative Officer, and entities outside the service.
Prioritize tasks and assignments and maintain a suspense system to assure timeliness of correspondence and reports. Prepare reports in an appropriate written format and/or communicate reports verbally.
Functions as the primary timekeeper and in a back-up capacity as needed. Maintain appointment calendar and schedule appointments and meetings.
Complete work quickly and accurately using VistA/DHCP, Microsoft Office products (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access), and various other data/information retrieval systems.
Ensure completed work is reviewed and forwarded to appropriate personnel in a timely and accurate manner. Order and maintain office supplies.
Track, store, collect, research and compile data for independent analysis. Review incoming mail and prepares response for appropriate signature. Receive visitors and telephone calls to the service.
