Job Description

Summary

This job is for a secretary at a U.S.

Marine Corps air station in Japan, where you'll handle day-to-day office tasks like managing paperwork, scheduling visits and meetings, and coordinating travel while following military protocols.

It's ideal for someone organized and detail-oriented with experience in administrative support, especially in a structured environment like the military or government.

Note that medical and dental care is very limited in Japan, so it's best for those comfortable with overseas living.

Key Requirements

You will serve as a Secretary in the Marine Corps Installations Pacific of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION FUTENMA. ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED.

GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing a variety of clerical, administrative and protocol duties to include office management, travel coordination and community relations facilitation.

GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing clerical, administrative and protocol duties using a variety of office automation tools; and maintaining information and subject matter files and records.

  • You will maintain information needed for various types of reports and organize the flow of clerical processes in the office.
  • You will receive visitors and telephone calls to the office.
  • You will receive incoming correspondence, screen material prior to distribution, establish controls, and follow up for supervisor.
  • You will make recommendations, discuss proposed visit arrangements, and resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • You will be responsible for protocol matters and provide advice on proper execution of the various aspects associated with visits, conferences, and meetings.
  • You will coordinate, plan and review administrative matters such as ensuring proper protocol considerations, provisions of escorts, transportation arrangements, and special funding requirements.
