Job Description

Summary

This seasonal job involves driving trams to transport visitors to beaches in Cape Cod National Seashore, providing safety briefings and information about park conditions and activities, while handling stressful situations like emergencies.

You'll also maintain the vehicles by checking fluids, cleaning, and refueling.

Full Job Description

A selectee receiving a first appointment to the Federal Government (Civil Service) is entitled only to the lowest step of the grade for which selected The display of a salary range on this vacancy shall not be construed as granting an entitlement to a higher rate of pay.

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is May to September, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding.

Anticipated Entry on Duty: May 2026 These positions are located in Cape Cod National Seashore, in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.

(SCREEN OUT) Operation of motor vehicle. Work practices. Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. Ability to drive safely. Ability to operate safely.

Reliability and Dependability as a Motor Vehicle Operator.

Additionally, all applicants must meet the Selective Factor for this position: Possess and maintain a current Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver's License with passenger and air brake endorsements.

Transport park visitors to the beach and be able to function appropriately and communicate effectively in stressful and emergency situations.

Provide visitors with a safety briefing regarding riding on, loading and unloading from trams.

Provide visitors with beach and surf condition information and information regarding park activities and resources.

Responsible for performing routine vehicle maintenance; check fluid levels, clean vehicle, check air/tires, refuel vehicle, etc.
